Dry, Frizzy and Dull Hair: A Simple Weekly Care Routine

Khumar Herbal Hair Oil routine for dry frizzy and dull hair

Dryness, frizz and dullness often appear together because rough or damaged hair reflects less light, tangles more easily and loses a smooth feel. A consistent routine can improve softness and manageability even when no single product changes everything overnight.

Before wash day: use a controlled pre-wash oil

Apply a small amount to the areas that feel dry. Massage the scalp gently for 2–5 minutes if scalp oiling suits you, then smooth the remainder through the lengths. Leave for 30–60 minutes before washing.

Avoid soaking fine hair or applying more than you can comfortably shampoo out. More oil does not automatically mean more benefit.

During washing: clean the scalp without rough handling

Choose a shampoo suited to your scalp. Concentrate it mainly at the roots and rinse thoroughly. Do not pile long hair roughly on top of the head because this can increase tangles.

After shampoo: use conditioner

Conditioner helps moisturize and detangle hair. Fine or straight hair may need it mainly on the ends, while dry, curly or thick hair may benefit from application through more of the length. Follow the product directions and rinse as needed.

Detangle from the ends upward

Use a wide-tooth comb and work slowly. Pulling from the roots through a knot can turn a manageable tangle into breakage. Gently squeeze or wrap hair to absorb water instead of rubbing hard with a towel.

Limit repeated heat and friction

Use the lowest effective heat setting, reduce repeated passes with hot tools and avoid very tight hairstyles. A silk or satin pillowcase may reduce overnight friction for some hair types, but gentle handling remains the key habit.

Adjust the routine to your hair type

  • Fine or oily hair: use less oil and keep the routine shorter.
  • Dry, thick or curly hair: focus on the lengths and ends and adjust the quantity upward only if needed.
  • Sensitive scalp: patch test and stop if itching, redness or burning appears.
